R36 Front Lip

The underside of my R36 bumper is pretty well haggard thanks to the previous owners - I knew it was like this before the sale and now I want to remedy the situation.

My thoughts are:

- Find a good condition replacement bumper in White (probably the last likely option)
- Have the current one repaired/painted
- Find a lip that will cover the damage

Most likely, I will just have it repaired, however if I can find the right lip I will likely take that route.

This is apparently an OEM product that will fit an R36. I'm skeptical and I suspect it is an "R-Line option" to fit the standard B6. Anyone able to shed some light on this for me?

Perhaps look at something like RhinoLip?

Not sure exactly how damaged your bumper is, but this might obscure it a bit.

By far the best option is the OSIR Design FCS in Gloss Carbon. It will need very minor modifications to attach to the B6 Passat R36 front bumper.

Robbie that looks really nice but wouldn't cover any of the damage. Probably a bit out of my price range too.

Mr Wolf, I'd heard that those flexible lip things aren't very good as they come unstuck. Are you using one?

I'd personally have the front bumper re-sprayed after seeing the extent of the damage above. Definitely can be repaired and repainted if you take it to a reputable smash repairer. Where are you from?

Here are some photos of the EZ-lip (also known as the Rhinolip) on a fellow members Candy White R36. Kind of hard to see, I would say it's the least beneficial option in your circumstance.

Yeah, the adhesion is potentially a weak-spot. And no, I don't have it on my R36. I've seen a few cars with it on, so I figured it can't be too bad.

If you're after a budget fix.. you could always just get thick white tape. Before you laugh, I've got blue tape that matches the biscay blue (well, it's close anyway) under my bumper which absorbs a lot of the scuffing. You wouldn't even know it's there unless you looked for it.

Alternatively, given that most of the damage appears to be only scuffing on the underside, below the lip, you could always just mask off the bumper and do your own repair. It wouldn't be terrible difficult, nor would it be obvious given where the damage is.

Just doing some reading, I'm wondering if white plastidip could help me in this circumstance. I'll definitely be getting all of the marks/scrapes on the top side of the bumper repaired, but for anything that may well see the ground again maybe I should consider something like plastidip. That said I've never used the stuff - a little late to the bandwagon haha.

I've seen the rhino lip and was all set to go but my thoughts was isn't the r36 on the low side already?
II'm in a similar situation as Op albeit heaps less scrapeage.

The R36 with SIMONH plates is mine, the EZI-lip was very easy to install, and for $30 you can't go wrong. Mine was also scratched ok the underside, this hides pretty much all of it.
