  • Fleet pricing on 130TDi Passat or Alltrack

I'm looking at purchasing either a new 130TDi Highline wagon or an Alltrack using fleet pricing through my employer. I'm in the process of getting quotes for both vehicles from various dealers but I'd be very appreciative if anyone were able to provide their recent final quoted fleet price for either vehicle. If you'd rather not display it publicly then feel free to PM me. I'm temporarily working in Darwin and my experience here with the sole dealer is they will not budge even a dollar in any attempt to be competitive. I've already purchased a VW from them and the sales rep freely admitted that they didn't need to be competitive as, well, the nearest VW dealership is 1,500kms away! Due to their poor after sales service I've experienced and perceived arrogance at being the sole dealer, I won't return there and will look interstate. That said, if there are any dealers here from anywhere in the country, please feel free to contact me.

    Dan

NB: If this has been discussed recently, then I apologise and feel free to redirect me. Thanks.

    Am interested how you go.
Had heard cheaper to fly to Adelaide and drive back, rather than buy in Darwin!

Even Canberra to Sydney is worth the drive for a better price.

From 12 months back, so possibly no longer relevant:

125tdi HL wgn 41809+GST+$1495 dealer delivery + onroads (possibly another 2600 off that - spreadsheet hard to read)

Alltrack 43445+GST+ 1495 dealer delivery + onroads (possibly another 2500 off that - the spreadsheet is hard to read)

Wife decided on neither & bought a Captiva instead

Ive met a few blokes up here who have all purchased their new vehicles (not VWs) from either Melbourne or Adelaide and driven them back. In one instance, one of them purchased a Commodore SV6 in Adelaide and after all travelling costs he was still about $5000 ahead.

Thanks for the numbers Brad, I must admit, theyre a little higher than I expected for fleet pricing. Is VWs fleet discount roughly 10%? Id be interested to hear of some more quotes.

Im sharing the pain with the Captiva...

10% off the RRP for me. (Ordered back in March 2013)

So about $48K+ for standard AllTrack + Park Assist + Rubber Mats all round...

I have no idea how accurate those prices are - as I said, the spreadsheet appears to have been designed to confuse & it's from Feb 2013.

Fleet prices vary depending on the buying power of the fleet so maybe some folk will do better. Wife is in Government & generally they couldn't negotiate a good price on a cup of coffeee.

I have a few aquaintances up in DRW & they've all done purchases in ADL or SYD (SS Ute, BMW 1er come to mind), flown down & road-tripped home and still saved money. One has a VW Golf & he says never again for VW as the local dealer is so arrogant.

              Hi Dan,

When I bought the 125TDI for my wife a year ago, the corporate discount was equivalent to the 'on road costs' of the base model.

                  Hi crackdawg,

I'm guessing that's for the Passat 130TDI Highline?

Well, I had 2 dealers in NSW come back to me with quotes for the Alltrack loaded with every option except the sunroof and electric seats. Only thing is it will be a factory order with roughly a six month wait. First dealer quoted me $61k ish and the second $53k. Small difference. Will keep looking and see what else comes back.

I got my GTI last year from Brisbane and trucked it back to Darwin.

Darwin dealer wanted New Car RRP for his demo GTI. Wouldn't budge a cent. Then he wouldn't order me a new car either. Tried to force me into the demo. It was thousands cheeper in the long run and I got the options I wanted.

Sounds about right Tob35, they seem to have earned a reputation up here and rely largely on government/fleet sales. Out of interest if you don't mind me asking, what did it cost you to truck it back from Brisbane?

It was in the $1200 area. I went through auto logistics and they pretty much are just a broker. Truck turned up and the Golf was unloaded at Truck City. No depot. Was lucky I could go get it straight away.

I would definatly recomend Prixcar. They have a great setup and I have moved two other vehicles with them. For less than a hundred more than others quoted.

Consider Adelaide and Melbourne to source a vehicle. Transport from both cities to Darwin can be via rail. A much cheeper and reliable method.

Cheers for that. I've moved two cars up here two years ago via truck and both required panel repairs on arrival. Hopefully train may be a little gentler on the vehicle. Thanks for the info.
