The fuse box is in the end of the dash and you will find a blank in there that you can put a fuse into that you can buy from Jaycar with a wire already hanging off it
Read the stickies in the Passat forum and you would get a lot of answers

Here is a pic of my fuse box with the two fuses used for my Power Magic for the dashcams.
One is permanent power and one is acc power only which is what you want
Cant remember which is which but a quick check with a multimeter will tell you
Part numbers for Jaycar fuses are SF5110 for standard size SF5120 for mini
Took out the wiper motor control SB22 in engine fuse box to see if could run from there now can't seem to get wipers to work and fuse looked oK so panicked thinking what have I done then went to go to local auto shop to get another fuse just in case reseated the fuse I took out again for a third time closed bonnet etc tested the wipers and they worked. OK
Tried the Sb8 fuse with a fuse tap but appears getting power even when engine off so still not sure which fuse to use only when engine on in the engine bay

There is a lot more to VW electrics than is obvious if you don't understand how they work or what you are doing.
Get a multimeter and someone in the drivers seat and test the blank ones to see which has Aux power only and use that one Probably all under the bonnet will be live and the control will be in end of the dash
Yeah might be a case of having to route through firewall, have a multimeter and tested appears all the ones that I tested in engine bay even the empty ones are live. Did find one in the right hand dash fuse box that runs air con only live when engine on
I found out if you leave indicator on when turning the motor off one of the front park lights stays on and you get an alarm chime. Also appears wipers and/or washer won't work when the bonnet is up, neither of these things have mattered on previous cars I've owned.

JEEZ I don't know Try the two in the pic I posted. Both of them are blank in most cars ONE them is an ACC feed USE THAT ONE
Don't go pulling fuses when you don't have to.
You cant go loading up VW circuits wily nilly or car can go into limp mode if computer detects outside of normal parameters
You ask us for help and when I tell you a way that works you try the opposite. Sometimes I wonder why I bother.
I appreciate the help but neither the book or your photo matches what is on my driver side of the dash fuse box so is your photo the left side
(attached is a photo of the right side)

That is just a bigger photo of what mine is and some of the fuses are different. You can see the same corner by the top one in my pic with the wire coming out of it
Just get a meter and test the one beside the 10amp in 2nd top row That's where mine is.
The other one is two rows down beside the 10 amp one again. The full size fuse row
Both of them are stuck in what were blanks previously
The blanks in most of them have the metal grips in the top half of them and that's all you need to get power for a fuse with the wire on like I used YOU DONT NEED TO PULL ANY FUSES
Try the ones by the 30amp green ones Any blank will do just get someone to turn key on Put meter in the blanks and turn key off You will soon find one Most of them have the side that comes from the car and not the other side but the fuses I used give power perfectly Look at the pics in the link I gave you all the fuses are shown and designated below the picture of the box
