Has the 60k major service been performed? If not be mindful of a $2500 major including dsg service from a Vw dealer

I would say that if it has been serviced on schedule, that the 60k service would have been done last year (the last of the MY08s would have been 4yo in 2012).

The other thing to bear in mind is that VW has altered the servicing schedule so that the Haldex fluid change is now done at the 45k service instead of the 60k service to help spread the costs a bit.

        Hi guys,
Picked the car up this morning. Deed done. What a machine. I am in love with this machine. It really is unreal. With regards to the services, it has had that haldex fluid change done in the 45k service (done last year) as kleung as said. It then had another service done about 4 months ago. It drives like a dream and I think I picked up a bargain. The previous seller really looked after it and it has come to a home that it will be loved just as much if not more actually. Love the sunroof too. I've always wanted a sunroof in a car and now I get it in the family wagon!!! I've been reading about things that it does and all the electric seat settings. Amazing to say the least, and the seats are bloody awesome. Better than in our turbo Jetta, only just!! I will try and get a coupe of photos up over the break but I will put them in my other thread that I started as I'm trying to get a couple of answers/ideas in there for a few things that I want to do.
        Cheers

I bet your Jetta doesn't have inflatable side bolsters.

If you and your partner have different preferred seat positions, you *should* be able to link them to your keys, so when you unlock the car, the seats automatically move to your preferred position. I can't remember the procedure - Google undoubtedly knows.

Yeah ive heard about the seat thing but we'll just use one key and press the seat allocation. Love it. The side bolsters are great. I havent had movable side bolsters since my 1988 mazda 626. Ill post some pics up when i get my personalised plates put on it. We have decided that it is time to pass my pride and joy XR8 on to someone else that will hopefully love it as much as i have. So if you know anyone in the hunt for a very much loved car, please let me know. It will be a very sad day and i will shed a tear but we cant house three cars unfortunately.

Anyone know how to tell if a car has Dynaudio or not? I imagine the system is fairly well hidden so the extra 2 speakers aren't noticeable.

The speaker covers on the bottom of the door will have a chrome strip that says Dynaudio on them.

Additionally, I'm pretty sure that the RNS/RCD unit will boot with a Dynaudio splash screen.

                    Thanks MrWolf.

Also, I have heard that the White R36's came with all options. Is this true?

Nope. Mine has auto tailgate, sunroof and nav. Km also optional on mine. Don't drive it enough. I have only managed 28k km in 4 years

There will be Dynaudio badges on the speaker grilles, but the R36 gets 10 speakers anyway. The mainstream Passats got a basic 8-speaker sound system, while the R36 got the "Premium" 10-speaker audio system, with a 250w 8-channel sound system. The Dynaudio was also 10 speakers, but mated with a 10-channel 600w amplifier instead.

The extra pair of speakers are the midrange drivers in the front, essentially meaning that you get 3-way splits in the front instead of 2-way.

There were rumours that a sunroof was mandatory on the white R36es.

My 2009 R36 wagon has Dynaudio and I love it. A friend has a R36 as well with the standard audio and there is a noticeable difference - but the standard system is still pretty good. I have noticed a lot of people advertise there R36's with Dynaudio when they sell them but very few actually have the option. As has been mentioned before, the two ways of identifying it is by the chrome strip on the door speakers and on the touchscreen when the car starts up.

For those with the standard system, what is the best plan of attack for improving it? Do the speakers cut it? Would an upgraded amp suffice?
