I have tried removing the immobiliser chip from both boards, still not working, and more faults come up, so I guess the immobiliser needs turning off in the chip.

I have seen this online, I don't know if its stupid or not
    VAG IMMO Emulator

Also these guys seem to have an immobiliser disable as an option with there tunes
    B5-B5.5 PASSAT 2.8 30V FLASH - VAG AUTOWERKS

I guess whats concerning me is whether my cluster is still going to stop it from starting if the immobiliser is turned off, but if the immobiliser is turned off, then I may be able to find a second hand cluster to go into it, as it then wouldn't need to have the matching barrel etc for the immobiliser

I am 100% it won't work with the chip removed. Did you swap them?

I tried swapping them doesn't work either.

I put the chips back. cleared the codes, re-adapted the throttle.

And basically because of the cluster, I had to disconnect the k-line to the ecu and run a new one, if you then try and ad the wire which goes to the cluster to the join the ecu connection drops out. But once the faults are cleared and throttle adaped, if you connect that wire to the join, even though the diagnostic to the ecu drops out, it now starts.... and idles...
I have cleared all the codes, nothing comes up....

but if you try and give it throttle it dies.
If I quickly move the throttle (pumping it) from zero to just before kick down the revs pick up and you can get it upto about 4500rpm if you let it off it idles and try and push the throttle like normal and it goes to die again...

So its fully warm and still doing it, dunno if fowled plugs, fuel pump pressure low.... I dunno but if I disconnect the cluster wire and scan it all there are no codes coming up...

I'm going through putting the interior back together.

But it wont shift from park when the ign on/car running, I can shift from park when the ignition is off
When you turn the ign on the little red pedal light next to the shifter comes on.
When you put your foot on the brake the rear brake lights don't come on.
          Normal lights all work.
          Vagcom says under gearbox faults
          00526 Brake light switch-F
          27-00 Implausible signal

It moved out of park before, as I limped it into the shed

I have removed the white two pin switch and tried pressing it and pulling it apart it all looks fine, its very simple design.
Was I meant to adapt the auto ecu? as I just plugged it in...

on the end of the fuse 13 for brakes the pins had slight white corrosion... so testing the fuse on the end with a multimeter gave a false reading....
now it goes into gear and up and down the driveway.

But it runs rough with not a lot of power. fingers crossed fouled plugs.... as there are no faults in the engine ecu
