This is the only thing about the R36 I'm not looking forward to

The best thing it has going for it is that it isn't turbocharged - some companies refuse to handle me with the GTI but don't have a problem if it was an R32!

I got $1,200 for the Passat R36 wagon through Lumley General Insurance.

Cheaper than the GTI - as they see the GTI as a turbo charged.....

I am not too unhappy about that - 28y/o driver, Sydney, Garaged.

Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers

Damn, that's pretty good. I think I'm paying $1100 for the GTI at the moment, though that will change after July when I turn 24... and it'll also change after June when it's 3 years since a certain Kangaroo incident

I'll try to avoid AAMI or Just Cars, though - even though Just Cars were the only people who would insure me for a reasonable price with the GTI.

You guys are lucky. I still remember when I was 19. I was driving a 1984 Mitsubishi Colt Hatch. Then I upgraded to a Lancer at 22. You guys now are all driving nice car at young age. How unfair Lord

Yeah... my first ride in 1984 was a 77 Datsun 240K... I then "upgraded" to a XY falcon due to a severe case of "Oh sh%t... BANG!..."

My first "decent" car was in 1991 when I bought a second hand EA Foulcan.

Ya do know that when you start ANY sentence with "I remember" or sim you are officially OLD... LOL

Mine was a 1984 WB Ute - Awesome... til some one stole it.
Then a Calibra... absolute nightmare to run and insure.
Then a EL Fairmont Ghia - Cheap to Run, and better to insure.
Then a Saab 93 Convertible. - Slow as Sh%t, but expensive to insure due to low pressure turbo....
Then a VZ Commodore (work car) - ok, nothing goes harder than someone elses car.
Finally (and currently) a MkV GTI - Best car I have ever owned (though a close one between it and my ute.

                          AHH the memories
