  • Wipers - interval Vs rain sense confused

I tried to get the rain sense working the other day and did not seem to have sucess so I resorted to the second rule of engineering... When in doubt RTFM.

So the book seems (in my reading) to give the same explanation for the control of interval wipers and rain sense wipers.

I assume that it's an either/or situation meaning I have rain sense wipers not both... FWIW The wife's Beema has int wiper AND auto (rain sense) wiper functions.

    Very confused

BTW is it just me or is the translation from German to English a little to literal in these manuals?

If your car is like a MKV, the situation is that you can have auto sense that is adjustable to the amount of water on the sensor, ie. spotting, mist, drizzle, rain - and this is adjusted on the stalk top switch.

With this there is not a need for variable speed intermittent.

The auto sense setting is one click up from the off position on the stalk.

    I hope that makes sense.

Yeah... thanks. I thought it was such but the manual had both descriptions and no clarifying statement
