The PD (unit injector) engines had advantage for quite a long time over the CR injector engines. The injecting pressure was much higher than the CR, and with that the PD engines had more torque than CR engines. The latest piezo PD injectors were failing in TDI Passats and Golf5 (125kW). The PD injectors can't meet the latest emissions law. Other than that the PD injectors could last longer than CR injectors.

So, it's not easy to answer which one is better.
