i had been previously trying to sort out a random bit of hesitation at light throttle when the car is cold (i believe that this is now fixed - this is not the question of my thread). as part of this i was at one stage searching for an intake leak.
i have noticed that when i open my oil cap or remove my dipstick there is very mild drop in idle, presumably because there is now air going through the crankcase breather into the intake (ie i've created an air leak). i know that this is normal to a degree on some cars, but i'm not sure for our car.
there are lots of stories on the net of bad pcv / crankcase breather valves but not much info on the 3.6 engine.
can someone else with the 3.6 VR6 engine test this out for me and see if there is any change in idle when the oil cap is removed? i am hoping that my pcv is not bad...
thanks for your help in advance!
