Passat B6 wagon - right tail light full of water

Hi all,

My rear right tail light has water in it. It has been fogged up for the last 2 weeks and I didn't do anything about it and now the the LED lights are not working and i get a light warning on my MFD and the amber 'light bulb out' light on the gauge is on.

Do I have to replace the whole light assembly or can you replace LED lights in the tail light?
What's the best course of action to get rid of the water and seal the housing again?

Any help would be great.

LED unit is part of the complete lamp...u may have a small crack in it..defective seal or even the back bulb holder left off or not fitted correctly...try and remove the lamp unit and inspect it for damage and leave it in the midday sun with the back open... might dry up ok..worth a try as Ive done this before...If not it will be a complete lamp unit mate...VDUB..

I've pulled it out and it looks like they're not a closed or sealed unit. Instead there's a hole the size of a matchbox and a rubber seal around the hole. It must seal against the panel when u install it.

I poured the water out of the unit. About half a cups worth. Chucked it in the oven on 75degrees for about 2hrs which got rid of 95% of the moisture.
Ill do it again tonight to get all the fog out.

Try heating it with the hole up and apply heat underneath with a hairdryer Not to hot but should get any condensation out
