Hi Plugfinder,
Car Care Products / Nanolex / All Areas / All Categories
I've never had a black car before but I do know they are a lot of work to keep clean and in good condition so I took no chances. There is heaps of info on this forum re cleaning products and paint protection, check out the detailing section.
What colour did you run? any options? hope you post some pics when you get it2013 Passat Alltrack, Black, Pano Roof

I suppose I was a bit lazy and didn't turn to google.... We chose a dark colour too so thought it might be relevant.
Went out on a limb with black oak brown. Can't say I was that thrilled with the colour choices available. Only option is the fancy headlight pack for some country driving. Will have to wait and see if all the lane change/drift warnings it comes with are any good. Also chose some rubber floor mats and boot liner.

10 days in and I'm loving it. So far I've only put 345kms on the clock so it's certainly early days.
Stereo - Awesome. Only frustratration is that when streaming music via bluetooth to the iphone, you can only skip songs rather than being able to navigate through playlists or artists as you can when playing it through the ipod connected in the glovebox.
DSG - so far so good. Still being pretty gentle to it so time will tell
MFD - Very easy to use. Unless I'm missing something, the "Average L/100km" seems to reset everytime the engine cools down to a certain point. It seems to continue for the daily drive with a few stops etc however if I drive in the morning, then again 8 hours later, it resets itself. Hope someone can chime in here tell me it's a setting. I'd rather reset it when I want to reset it.
Even though I'm not pushing it just yet, it feels quite punchy. Loads of torque. They way things are going, I won't be filling this thing up for a month!! Loving that!2013 Passat Alltrack, Black, Pano Roof

I know what you mean about the colour choices. We also went for the black oak brown and I've been wondering ever since whether we made the right choice (haven't got the car yet). Today I came across this review which has lots of pics of a black oak brown model. It has reassured me that I will be happy with the colour.Originally posted by Wigspotter View PostWent out on a limb with black oak brown. Haven't got my new Alltrack yet, but if it works the same as the Mk4 and Mk5 Golfs then there will be two different sets of stats, labelled "1" and "2" that can be selected via a button on the steering wheel. Set "1" resets any time the car is turned off for more than 2 hours. Set "2" resets much less often, maybe after a few months or so. There may be a way to reset it manually (I've never felt the need to do that).Originally posted by AllBlack View PostMFD - Very easy to use. You reset "2" (and "1") by holding the OK button. (Or in the older models, holding down "down" on the stalk). I use "1" for trips, and "2" for between refuels.Originally posted by davo View PostSet "2" resets much less often, maybe after a few months or so. I reckon I would have liked a grey ish brown or green that wasn't quite so dark.Originally posted by davo View PostI know what you mean about the colour choices. In the end it was a toss up between Icelandic and black oak brown. The Icelandic is an elegant colour but it has a tendency to 'disappear' in twighlight. That plus silvers, blacks and greys are VERY common on our street...!

congrats on the purchase.
You'll find that the car drinks more to start with because of the new engine still being tight. I think my first tank I managed to get just over 450kms.
Now with 3300kms I'm getting at least 600kms per tank with city driving only.Daniel

Whoa, glad you clarified that it's city driving otherwise that would be awful. I would expect to read >1000km per tank on average, over time. While the Alltrack certainly guzzles more, it shouldn't be twice as much as a "normal" Passat, which should get you 1400-1500km per filling (at least my step-dad does in Germany, which includes Autobahn driving).Originally posted by drad81 View Postcongrats on the purchase.

Even in the city, it's pretty bad: that's like 13L/100 (based on a 70L tank) or thereabouts? Ouch!

The car shows an average of 9.1L/100kms. I'm not letting the tank go too low and filling up with 10kms from when the fuel light comes on. When I fill up i've travelled about 650kms and I can only fit about 62L in the tank. On the hwy I was averaging about 5.1l/100kms.Daniel
