  • Looking to buy Passat 3C V6

    Hi all,

I'm looking to buy an Passat 3C V6 FSI DSG 4-Motion 6cil. 3.2 - 2006 with 200.000 km and wanting to know what any common issues or problems are or what to look out for when buying?

    Description:
Excellent condition Volkswagen Passat All Wheel Drive Sedan with almost every option one could get with this car. Regretful sale as only selling due to planned upgrade to Seven seater vehicle. This car comes with six month rego and near new 4 tyres. The list of options includes VW RNS510 satellite navigation system, factory fitted bluetooth phone kit, Sunroof, Electric seats with memory, factory fitted removable towbar, bi-xenon adaptive lights, factory fitted rear seat shade.

    Thanks
    Boki

That's some fairly extreme mileage in that car - 200k kms in 6-7 years = almost 30k kms each year.

I'd be looking at lower mileage examples - surely similarly optioned examples with fewer kms wouldn't be too much dearer?

If you are set on this one, I'd be checking the usual stuff (service history, no unusual noises on the road, rust, DSG operation, check all the gizmos to make sure they work, etc).

I'd also be checking the MFD for any problems on the display itself (dead pixels, iffy backlight) etc, electric park brake operation. More importantly though, I'd be checking that the DSG has been serviced every 45,000kms - but given that you've already driven a MkV TDI, you'd probably already know about DSG servicing requirements...

the handbrake button always stuffs up on the passat b6, i had mine changed a couple of times.

also listen to noise when turning the steering wheel at low speed, seems like it a common problem with the steering rake as well.

i have the same model 3.2 v6 as well, really good on fuel getting 10l/100kms on average 80% city, 20% freeway

Don't knock it (too much!) - if it's a great car, don't worry about having a wood dash trim - consider it a bonus (or otherwise)!

Re 'grandpa dash' - love the expression booba! Have it on my car (got it to break up the shinyness of too much metal in the cabin) and, yes, I am working on joining the 'grandpa' brigade, but the kids are too young.

Will just have to enjoy the Passat for the great car it is.

Yeah, I agree with you that the term 'grandpa dash' fits it perfectly - because it is!

                  And I have one . . .

surprisingly it revs alot harder and faster than the cc 3.6 ( my missus's )

the 3.6 on the cc feels lazy but definitely alot more torquey than the 3.2

Looks better than the cheap ute looking Aluminum panels that reflect in the screen.

Im happy to be a grandpa.
