  • Pothole Vent

Just wanted to vent that I hit a massive unavoidable pothole on the Ipswich motorway today, the crater would have been at least 40cm wide.

Instant tyre deflation, changing tyre in the wet wasn't fun and I had to go home to change my soaked clothes. The factory jack is balls as well.

Does anyone know how much a new Vicenza rim would cost? I wouldn't imagine that I would get much back from $1000. Not sure if it is bent as yet but the tyre place will be able to tell me.

    So Angry!

Ask the council mate, you shoul have taken photos of the pothole and the damage to the car and you would have a fairly easy case to claim compensation.

      Re: Pothole Vent

What Gavs said, take some photos of the pothole and of your damaged tyre or wheel and give the council a call

I can try, it is a very busy road during the day. apparently you have bugger all chance unless you can prove that they have been negligent and not fixed the pothole in a timely fashion. the pothole wasn't there when I drive down the day before

I'm not sure how hard it is to get compensation but i'm guessing a big hole on such a busy road would have been reported and would be considered as an emergency job, from memory i think those have to be fixed within 24-48 hours.
It can't hurt to give it a try anyway, hopefully it goes well for you because that really isn't fair

Well the tyre is rooted, under 10000km old. Rim looks ok but won't know for sure until they balance it I guess.

I can't freaking find a continental sportcontact 5 235/40/18 anywhere in Brisbane so far

              Have you looked on ebay?
It may take a couple of days to get to you but it's probably a good option.

Thanks.. I found one in the next suburb from work. Costing an extra $30 but I don't have to wait 2 weeks.

It has taken the council 2 years to not respond to the broken as hell guttering in my street that they destroyed unloading an excavator to build the bike track in the park - I would not even bother with the pot hole.
The Highway may belong to the state government not the council; would it be it Brisbane or Ipswich.
