ECU software update..

I had passat 2009 tdi in burwin service for regular check///
I was told everything was fine...just car need ecu software update.
Does anyone knows what that mean? What is improvements?

Who knows they do this at times to update things and suposedly make it better.

Depends if it was an ECU or a gearbox update which is what has been getting done over the last year or so

The updates are for more electronic control units than just for the engine or the gearbox and some could take a long time to install and adapt.

Update ECU engine software finish...I left car around 8.00 am and everything was finish at 3.00 PM...
Difference :
Engine sound different...(yes, that surprised me)
Acceleration is better,
They did not update transs, but feel much better work..
I was told that pd injectors need 200-300 km adopt to new settings...

Yes, that's what my customers report back as well, the improved turbo response (less turbo lag), better fuel economy and less smoke on the start up. I takes 1h20min with the Autologic unit. I recon I've done 8 engine ECU updates on TDIs this year alone.

How often new updates comes?

That's unknown. I guess when there is a need for one.
