You do the facepalm how about my situation - I bought mine a week ago, and was told it was in every respect like buying a demo passat excepting the shorter warranty.
However I am thinking that eligible vehicles "sold new by a dealer after Jan 2013" can be interpreted as not covering my car, whose warranty started December 2012 when it was first registered by vw corporate HQ, in which case I missed out on this deal in a much more aggravating way than someone who took the keys in December 2012 !
