Just bought a set of Michelin PS3's. very reasonably priced, so far so good
Just taken delivery of 125TDI (130TDI?) but very unhappy with over firm ride on small bumps. Thinking perhaps changing tyres. So does Michelin give more compient ride? Previous car Golf TSI118 with ACC. Like a fool did not include with Passat

Check your service book, inside front cover is a computer printed sticker, which will clarify what engine you have.
2013 Passat tdi 130kw/380nm - Autumn Brown, Driver Assistance & Visibility Package, 12 way Power Seats, Adaptive Cruise Control, RVC, Auto Tailgate, Black Nappa.
I had the Michelin PS3's on my R36 and didn't like them, too hard on the ride after a few thousaknd k's on them. The Continental Contisports on the current V6 are much better IMO for ride and quietness and about the same for handling and turn in.

Before swapping out the tyres:
What tyres (brand / size) are on there now?
What pressure is in them
Have you checked to make sure the transport spacers have been removed from the springs?

Thanks for your comments and suggestions Brad
Tyres are Continental 235/45 R17 as per brochure for 125TDI (No change for 130TDI)
I checked pressure previously, found it was about 10% above the reccommended level, now running about 5% below, as most roads I travel are 80-100K limited This did make a SMALL improvement.
Another small improvement is to carry a 20kilo bag of Gypsum in the boot.
I have looked for any spacers on rear springs, does not seem to be any.
Another annoyance were intermittant extra thumps from rear passing over a bump. Have just removed spare tyre and placed thin carpet between tyre and well floor. Still to see if this improves.
Warning; Spare tyre is bloody heavy (About 20K?) and almost impossible to remove without injury. I had to remove tool carrier to get a grip on tyre.
