  • Strange spots on my car

Hi guys, in recent months I noticed tiny spots on my car mostly in the boot area and rear bumper. I can't seem to remove it with by washing. I managed to get some off with meguiars scratch remover but not sure if I'm causing more damage. I don't know how to upload pictures, I'm working on that now.

    Any advice would be great.

    Cheers

    What colour is your car?
    What colour are the spots?
    How old is the car?

In any case a clay bar and lube would be your best bet.

The link doesn't work for me, just sends me to picasa homepage.
I would guess at it being tar/soot?

The car is almost two years old and the car is mostly outside because I don't have a garage for myself. Wife has rights to the garage

Try photobucket, that should do the trick.

I'm in sutherland shire, miranda area.
Team v mentioned it could be tar or soot. If so would clay work on the bumper ?? It's made of plastic..

Without seeing the pictures, I bet you have the same problem as me.
A white car and birds/bats eating fruit. Usually mangoes, or dates up here.
The spots are usually brown to orange.

The home remedy I found is a mix of dish washing liquid, water and white vinegar.
Apply the mix like you're polishing the car and rinse with clean water.

I washed and waxed after, just to be doubly sure. I chopped down the date palm and never parking near a mango tree
                  again, that's for sure.

I can come and have a look at it for you (I detail cars as a hobby, now almost a 2nd job ) and give you some advise on how best to tackle the problem.

Send me a PM on when suits best, and we can sort something out.

                          hey champ,

I've got the same problem with my white B7 Passat. Parked outside day and night.

I recently purchased 'Wolf's Chemicals Decon Gel' from CarCareProducts in Five Dock. You basically spray it on all over the car and watch the magic happen. It goes on clear and if there's a reaction due to contaminents in the paint, it turns purple. Have a look at this link:

White 1.9Tdi Polo classic - Detailed By Lawrence - Detailing World

Once sprayed on, allow to dwell for 10 min. You can then either agitate (I was to scared to do this in fear of scratching the clear coat), or just rinse off with a pressure washer. You should then clay the car accordingly.

Speak to the guys at CarCarProducts, they will be more than helpful.

Sorry, I didn't take any pics when I did it. But once I sprayed it on the entire car, my white Passat turned Purple!

                          Hope this helps.

                          Mick.
