Hi all have a r36 with the mechatronic playing up. (Car is out of warranty)Took back to dealer and it's confirmed by them. They have applied to volkswagon Australia as a goodwill warranty. Do you think it will be covered 100% Maybe 50/50? They said its all assed on a individual basis.... Really scared if not covered as the unit alone is around 4500 plus labour (900.00). Really considering my options if not covered. What do you think i should do if not covered? its also a known issue with dsg! Can any one please shed some more detailed info if this has ever happened to them with there outcomes. Thanks everyone

My mk vi Golf Mechatronics packed it in last Nov, 8 months out of warranty and only 30k on the odometer. VW replaced it for free as a goodwill gesture, much appreciated and I have sent them a letter of praise. Hope you are as lucky, we also had a Tiguan at the time and a new Alltrack on order, that may have helped.Passat Alltrack sports pack - silver

Depends upon what symptoms your car is showing as to what might be wrong.
I had a jetta that was sluggish on take off and could almost never get a smooth take off. Clunked between gear changes at times as well.
Reset the gearbox. Clunking went away for a few weeks then came back. Take off issue no change.
Had the mechatronics unit replaced. Clunking went away for a few weeks then came back. Take off issue was better but not fixed.
Reset the gearbox. Faults remained.
Gearbox and mechatronics replaced (believe they come as a unit not the gearbox seperately). Issues fixed. Smooth take off all the time and smooth gear changes all the time. It was such a different car to drive after this fix.
Hope it goes well for you.1974 1300 Beetle, 1997 Golf GL, 2003 New Beetle Cabrio, 2014 Audi A4 quattro

hope you dont have to either... but with mine it had to be done as the mechatronics did not fix the problem.. only made it go away for a short period of time. But thankfully the dealer was pretty good about it and i didn't have to argue or fight with them... i came to pick up the car after another day of fault diagnosis and they told me the date etc to bring the car back in so they could replace the gearbox. They had it for a day and it was such a different car after it was fixed... to be honest we disliked driving the car as it was such an awful drive and would both go for the other cars we had at the time unless we "had" to use the jetta. lol..1974 1300 Beetle, 1997 Golf GL, 2003 New Beetle Cabrio, 2014 Audi A4 quattro

From experience VW will pay 100% up to 12 months out of warranty. As long as you havent been smashing the crap out of the launch control and the car has got good service histroy. They can see everything on the VAS system.MY13 Golf R - Rising Blue ** SOLD** New toy wanted

What if you get a quality service from a non VW garage? Too bad?
