Who has an R36?

Super keen to see the Lakin front plate on an R36...

The only thing that would make it just that bit better would be matching plugs rather than black plugs, but that's nit-picking.
Lakin plates - I'm in. Thanks again.

Keep in mind that Philip from Lakin plates can also do mounting plates with custom mounts/holes - you do not have to have the plate at a fixed height (if using existing holes). It can be moved around. Check out his website - he goes into a bit of detail about the different options available and you can see what other people have done (photos).
If you want to use existing holes but smaller plates, you can always get the exposed bits of the mounting bracket painted to match the car (like I did) - see second pic in post 73.MY12.5 B7 Passat Wagon : : TDI Highline : : Icelandic Grey : : black leather interior

It's hard to match and maintain the brushed aluminium look of the R36 grille, as Philip himself says in an extract of an email to me:
"Additionally, the unfinished aluminium surface tends to dull with time unless it's kept well polished or sprayed with clear lacquer."
Hence my interest in the other approaches taken by R36 owners on here.

Sucks RR 36 WA was taken and VW 36 WA. Did you also go for slimline for the rear plate? I haven't seen many other black 36s in Perth i see a few blue ones and wagons though!WLF127

It's exactly what I wanted - not too loud - no drone. It really brings out the richness of the R36 note - and has a really nice low burble that extends up to about 3000rpm. Post 3000rpm it begins to become a bit throatier and really roars. The funny thing is though - at idle it is very hard to tell the difference between supersprint and stock. Overall I am really pleased and would recommend to others. Yes it is more expensive - but if you are looking for a great tone from the exhaust I think it’s a great option. In my opinion, the R36 from stock should have sounded like this. I may have to start a little thread and put some photos in.
