Nice - looks just like mine

I'm also interested in the Lakin plate brackets - post your photos when you're done!

What LED kit did you order?

+1 on lakin plate brackets. I have them on QLD prestige plates, front and back on my13 Passat wagon. phil (from memory) will go out of his way to help out.

                  +2 for the Lakin plates.

Have them with NSW slim-line white (since I took these pics, have painted the front one to match the car). Much better than the std plastic cr-p VW put on the front of the car or the dealer self-advertising!

Some pics from my one (no order, just grabbed them):

                  Sorry, not an R36 . . .

Thanks - looks good! Definite improvement over the stock items as you say.

Keen to see what the Lakin plate holder looks like over a brushed aluminium R36 front grille though...

Sorry, can only go so far (have B7, not R36) . . . I think it would look great on the R36 as the Lakin plate mount design (depending on your license plate size/style) will either be almost invisible (like my rear plate), or in the case of my front plates have a little exposed (as the license plate is smaller than the holes in the bumper).

Was going to go full-size Euro plates on my Passat BUT the price asked by NSW gov't ($400!) was too much - I am OK with being ripped-off a little for a good product ($99 for the slimline plates was almost acceptable), but that was too much for even me to stomach! Don't get me started on how they charge ridiculous amounts for what are stamped pieces of painted thin aluminium . . .

Depending on how fussy you are, you can have the exposed mount painted to match your car (like I did) - just got to remember to take a photo! You can also be 'extreme' and have the mount chromed to match the front grille

+3 on Lakin brackets, Phil's customer service is excellent! I have the small plate holders and brackets on the front of my R36, I deleted the large plastic OEM plate holder and plugged the holes with scrivets that Phil supplied. Looks good, I'll go for a walk in an hour or so to the carpark and take a pic when it stops raining

                          Hi

Just curious about how you removed the ugly OEM large plastic plate holder on the front of the R36? Its a hideous looking thing and I can't work out how to remove it. Is it held on with plugs, rivets, screws or what?

Are you able to show a pic?

                          Take care...

                            Andrew

You use a small allen key (or nail) to push the centre of the plastic lugs out and the lug will then just pop out:

Pic of the Lakin plate that has been painted to match body colour (the pics above show the original black) - sorry about the bugs (just got back from an interstate trip) -
