Ok so had someone look under my car yesterday and noticed on my car (which is a 08 passat wagon tsi) that there is 2 cat converters, one that runs off the turbo then another on the exhaust. My question is the one that is further down on the exhaust is behind the o2 sensor so if i got rid of it would my engine light come on? can someone help please. was thinking getting rid of that one as there is already one near the turbo or changing to a sport one with the resi? i wouldn't just get rid of it. that might actually be illegal for emissions. changing to a sports type is probably ok. if the cat that you want to modify is after the last o2 then it can't give you a cel as the ecu cannot tell how well it is performing.

That what i thought the ecu wouldnt recognise it there, with the illegal side things there is still one near the turbo so why is there 2?

maybe it requires both of them to do the entire job? i am no expert on catalytic converters however, someone else might be able to answer that one. i just wouldn't remove it as they are there to process dangerous substances.
