  • V6 Passat wagon - body flex

Does anyone else get a lot of creaking coming from the door rubbers when, for example, you drive diaginally across the driveway at a petrol station? This must be a result of body flex. I have to say I'm surprised by the amount of movement. My thoughts (in no particular order)

Possibly made worse by the panoramic sunroof.
Maybe the rubbers are just particularly noisy.
Maybe the wagon chassis just has a certain degree of flex.
Definitely more pronounced in the 'sport' setting on the adaptive chassis control

I had this problem initially & it really annoyed me. I carefully sprayed all the door rubbers/seals with a can of silicon spray & it fixed the problem completely. Did this approx 6 months ago now & still no squeaks to this day. Sounds like a different car now! There are no doubt products that are more suitable for this purpose than a can of silicon, but it has been quite effective for me. Good luck!

My R36 Wagon did it but didn't bother doing anything about it, even though there was another thread about it with a fix like that posted by Sportpaket above. Ny new V6 Highline Wagon doesn't do it.

I have experienced it a couple of times but only after driving diagonally over one steeply angled driveway entrance. As I mentioned it has only happened a couple of times in the 8 months I have had the car.

          Am I concerned, absolutely not.......

Same topic recently came up on the Passat forum of the German Motor Talk site. Solution was the same: silicone spray along all door seals solved the problem.

Mine did it right from the start but now after owning the car for 5 months has settled down to the point where I cannot recall the last time I heard a creek. I put it down to new rubbers etc that just needed to bed in.
