Hey all,
Well just picked up the R36 from the local VW dealer to have a few things looked at before the warranty runs out...
Much to my disappointment none of the items have been address or rectified. So my question is do I pursue the dealer further (considering that the items they said they had fixed have actually not been) or do I complain direct to VW Aust or try another dealer??? I guess I’m in the unfortunate situation that I did not buy the vehicle off them so I don't really have any relationship with the dealer apart from the fact they are my local dealer.
For those of you keen for a read the problems I wanted addressed are below....
1. The common problem of the seat bolster collapsing, which was disregarded completely as 'Volkswagen do not cover trim or rattles under warranty for second owners'. This I think is pretty poor, given the vehicle has only done 20,500klm! Sure normal wear and tear is expected and I could live with this if it had done 80K.
2. Door seals creaking....they made a big deal about 'adjusting' the doors to stop the creaking, and that I would not be charged for that... just as well as what ever they did it has not helped one little bit! I’ve tried the VW stuff (Krytox) and Gummi Phledge which only give temporary relief. Next will be the pipe option.
3. The DSG snapping/grabbing at gears when in Drive. It’s not all the time, but it is pretty harsh when it does happen. It’s as smooth as silk using the paddle shifters, which to me is where you would expect the more severe changes to be felt. My wife has a 103TDI Golf and the DSG it is superb, I am guessing that these two boxes would be pretty much the same, possibly just the programming which would be different? Which is why I don’t understand why mine is so bad?
4. Sunroof - not sitting flush with the roof line on the driver side, it was just poking up a bit on the drivers side, I would have thought this would have been a pretty easy fix, just a bit of alignment, but it seems like they have actually made it worse, as some how they have managed to lift the centre part so it is not aligned!
Anyway, that's my groan for the day...any comments feedback would be appreciated.
And gotta say this forum is a great source of good info!
Cheers
