  • New Passat wagon ready to pick up

    Hi all,

Finally.....Just received a call from my dealer. My new 2012 Passat TDI wagon is ready to pick up on Friday. One question, can anyone recommend a good window tint. Looking at 'Formular 1' tint, from tint a car.

Hi, I would highly recommend Rob Tait, owner of CarTint. I have had my 1998 Subaru Liberty, 1999 WRX, 2005 Mini Cooper S & 2007 Mazda MPS done there & the qualtiy of tint & the workmanship is second to none. They are in Ringwood so very close to you. Only issue is that he will charge more than the dealer. We still have the Liberty so the tint is now 14 years old & despite kids & dogs in the car the tint still stands the test of time.

I had my VW done at the dealer because I was too slack to sort it out afterwards & already regretting it due to poor workmanship.

    Good luck.

Thanks MJW. I'll give hime a call.

By the way I see you have the hamburger with the lot in your Passat specs. How do you find the Satnav?

No worries. I got the Sat Nav for 2 reasons:

        1) I was sick of having a windscreen mount plugged into my 12v point on my old car.
        2) The Sat Nav option provides a higher res screen & voice activation for Sat Nav, Radio, MDI, HDD & phone contacts.

The second point was the main reason. The software itself works well enough but doesn't have the red light or speeding camera POI's installed but I am OK with that. The fact that it all also comes through the MFD is a bonus.

integration is the best bit of the RNS..

So Mr Tait is still around?
we was fairly good in my experience. Just about most reputable tint places will probably have a template for the car by now...
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....

OK. So just some sleepless nights ahead?

I picked mine up early Feb & enjoy driving it as much now as the 1st day I hoped in it. I hope you enjoy yours as much.

Not happy with the wheel. I would ideally like a rocco or gti wheel but i need to verify if i can retrofit the lane assist vibration modules otherwise i will wait till passat R is out in germany for the steering wheel.

Unfortunately, Mr Tait wouldn't tint my vw wagon. had not done one before and was hesitant in removing trims etc. I was ok with that, but had to go somewhere else. Now if I could only work out how to download a picture of my new wheels?

No Sunroofs cannot be tinted. The fact tint in the roof is reasonable dark anyway. You wont have a problem.
