  • R36 Wagon Towing

I am looking at purchasing a R36 wagon but I am seeing mixed specifications about the towing capacity.

Is it rated to tow 2200kg or 1500kg with a braked trailer?

I will be towing a car (1450kg) with a tandem car trailer (440kg).

If it can tow 2200kg, has anyone had any experience towing a R36 with a car on the back?

No actual experience towing heavy loads with the R36, but the manual states 2200kg with brakes for gradients up to 12% (or 750kg without) according to '3.5 Supplement and Technical Data' at page 33.

However, you may have some serious issues with the maximum draw bar loading of only 85kg! (you probably need more than double that to tow two tons)!

yep, agreed, i did some towing up to about 1500kg and the draw loading was the real issue. It was very noticeble when driving due to bottom in design.
