I want to upgrade my reverse light to LED type. Anyone done this??
Also what size is the reverse light bulb anyways??
THanks
No, but have with other lights. I've tried two types of error free bulbs, but non work on the Passat (they did on the Tig interestingly though). So I've had to wire in resistors where needed (e.g. number plate lights, DDL's etc).
If you are after more brightness, you are wasting your time with LEDs. Went down the LED route, and found that because of the directional nature of the light, there is no light bounced of the reflector, and as such the illumination of the reverse light was worse than standard bulb. Instead went and bought a Philips 50W halogen at the local Autobarn. Heaps more light. Has been in over a year, and have not had any problems with overheating the housing or the wiring (and I have quite a long driveway that I have to back out each morning).
