  • GTI, Scirocco steering wheel.....

Thought we should start a new thread for the Golf GTI, Scirocco steering wheel.

You would know we have been speaking of these in another thread as an upgrade to our Passats. Clip has fitted one to his Tiguan & by all accounts it has been a great success.

In the other thread I posted a link to Bricarauto in the EU that can supply the GTI, Scirocco steering wheels. Here is the link to Bricarauto in the EU. I received a reply from them earlier this morning regarding the s/wheels & international shipping:

    Hello James,

It is not possible for us to send steering wheels with airbag to countries
outside the European Union. (security issues in the transportation by air)

You can buy only steering wheels without airbag.
Soon our website will have this option.

    Best regards,
    José

Unfortunately, it seems we need to keep looking at our options.......

    * Sport pack (Kansas wheels) - Active cruise City EB - Driver Assist Vis pack - Auto tailgate - Candy White with dark tint.

What about transport by sea? Would take a while, but solves the problem.

I had no issues getting my GTI steering wheel from the UK and retrofitting it.

Purchased mine from here. Doesn't have the GTI badge but I preferred it this way.

Not to the Tig Riker (sold that 11 months ago now), I fitted it to the Passat. The flappy paddles really make best use of the DSG. Best mod I've done. Love it!

Is there a DIY to fitting the Flappy padles, or if I am asking that question I shouldnt be attempting it.

Don't forget cc's got them, so you may be able to get steering wheels from the states.

ok, i'm in on one too if someone's organising GB!

i found a cc one ex airbag on ebay, but not sure if the standard wheel airbag will fit and not willing to risk it!

so.. a group buy and a group fit???

The wheel I got had a different shape airbag cover, even a different clip system.

the one I have seen os from a German EOS, and not a flat bottomed wheel. I imagine the flat bottomed wheels have a different housing, perhaps a different volumr bag, hence My hesitation on one of those, esp without a bag.

might go looking for a CC wheel and perhaps read volume of airbag specs....

I'd recommend buying something with an airbag to be safe. You can usually sell your old/unused airbag for ~$300 to those who repair VWs for a living/hobby.
