  • Passat Wagon 2011 Pricing

    Hi everyone,

I am shopping around for a Passat Wagon 118 TSI or a 125TDI and just wanted to know how much people have paid for their car (the only option I want is metallic paint), and which dealership. I seem to have had really bad experience with VW dealerships in Sydney and they don't seem to discount much from RRP. Thank you

    G'day Muppet.....

Mate, I found that some dealers just have bad salesman & poor service & this immediately tells us the customer to throw up the red flag & not trust them with your business. It also comes down to how the customer approaches the whole thing. I watched one customer while I was paying my deposit, walk in & it looked & sounded like he was there to win a fight. He was arrogant, pushy & downright dismissive of the salesmanship questions on whether he had a trade in etc. From that example you could see why a dealer might not want to be nice to a customer. I really believe that if you walk in with a smile on the face, deposit in your wallet & reasonable negotiating ability the dealers will play.

I did have a bad experience at a dealer in western Sydney. They had the best quote so in the end won my business for a 125tdi. Paid the deposit & waited, & waited. I had many options so my quote is not really relevant for you. I was advised weekly during the first six week my order had been allocated a slot & production would begin soon with a Dec 11 delivery. Well, after 7 weeks I received a call advising the car hadn't received a production slot & expected arrival was now March, April 12. Long story short, they literally sat on my order (with deposit) for 6 weeks. Needless to say I cancelled got my deposit back & walked away. I went back to Hornsby then Chatswood VW & luckily Chatswood had a cancelled V6 wagon order that had just arrived on the ship & was due at the dealer that week. Had all the options I originally wanted so after a rewarding chat with the dealer I jumped on it.

Overall, Chatswood & Hornsby were both very good to deal with when I was originally deciding on the dealer to go with. I would recommend them both but it is subjective really as we all have differing situations, opinions & ways of approaching dealers. Just be happy, carry a deposit (incentive for the dealer) & enjoy. Oh, & go towards the end of a month or end of financial year.

Picked my 118TSI Passat wagon from Sutherland VW. I live 2.5km from Chatswood VW, but they had sold out of Passat's just prior to Christmas and we needed a wagon with a baby due any day now. Pushed Sutherland VW hard and got a white wagon, with tinted windows, and rear luggage tray for $40k driveaway. I had previously test driven a Passat sedan at Hornsby and they were very good to deal with also.

well worth finding out if you qualify for corporate pricing. depends on employer and also depends of professional associations/clubs you may be a member of.
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....

Absolutely worth finding out about the corporate pricing. I got $6k off my passat v6 due to professional membership.
