Do you know what firmware version the phone is running? What head unit have you got?

MY10 Passat did not come standard with Blue-tooth. Do you definately have it installed?
If so you probably should post what model HTC as even between manufracturers there seem to be differences.

I've got an MY10 R36 which came optioned with the basic bluetooth. I've since upgraded to the 9w7 premium bluetooth and have had no trouble connecting my HTC Touch Diamond 2 to either unit
