Climatronic problem

Called dealer today. He said he'd never heard of this problem in any VW or Audi, and without even searching or asking anyone else told me he hadn't heard anything about 'hot country' settings for Tiguan. He said everyone he spoke to was happy with their climatronic, and even if there was such a thing as hot country settings, Australia is a hot country and therefore they would be the correct settings, as VW Germany set them for the country of sale.
This is so typical of car dealers (not just VW). I advised him that he had just lost the service of my near new car for the rest of the warranty period, plus any chance of future car sales thru that dealer. This is the same guy who told me 16" steel rims for Tiguans don't exist and I had to buy a $900 alloy as a full sized spare. I bought a genuine steel rim from another VW dealer.
Sorry - dealers pissssss me off.

I think it is called a Sunload Sensor in some of the VW range. Found this post; http://www.vwwatercooled.org.au/foru...sue-50922.html
I've covered my sensor with a piece of brown paper bag and it seems to work in preventing the 'rapid chill' effect in bright sunlight, but will get whoever I find to service it to try and fix permanently.

Hi
Played around with a VCDS cable... at somestage I will probably get my own now I have seen what it can do...
Anyhow things I have seen in the HVAC/Climate module...
I am generally happy with my CControl, my car has a couple of weird settings tho. My car is set up with the region set as NORTH AMERICA - Note they don't even sell the B7 there... also the roof is classed as full roof (i have the panoramic roof)... go figure...
glass is set up as insulating - which I would expect, although another setting says "Green insulated Touran" or something or other (note there was no "Passat"...
By the looks of all that, you may be able to adjust the Climate control.... as I am happy, I didn't touch the climate settings.
Cheers

Didn't work. Filter is clean and smells like disinfectant but that's about it. Smell is so bad I can't even use the climate control at all right now. I reckon the evaporator must be full of bacteria or something.
Anyway, no DIY tricks were working so I've asked the dealer to tell me what they can do about it. Seeing as they already extorted some money from me to fail in fixing the issue last time I feel they should be doing something more thorough again this time or else I'll be somewhat pissed off.

Just change the filter. I had similar issues after trying so many bombs + disinfectant, after replacing the filter the smell went away. I bought a charcoal filter last yr for about $30 I think from VW Five Dock.Current: | MY09 R36 | Dynaudio | RNS510 SatNav |

Hi All
I have a B7 Passat 118 TSI (purchased 30 June 2012) and the Climate Control is freezing me on cool sunny days in Brisbane. My problem is the same as that of clip, namely: I set the Climate Control on Auto at 24 degrees, and on a cool day (17-20 degrees) and bright sunshine, the 4 front vents blow cold air. I have thrown a hat over the InfraRed sensor in the top of the dash at the base of the windscreen and this action reduces the cold air output by dropping the speed of the fan from 3 or 4 to 2. The Climate Control works without an issue at night-time or when the days is overcast and the sun is not shining on the IR Sensor.
I took it back to the dealer last week and the service manager indicated he was aware of the issue. His staff apparently checked and updated the Climate Control software, but to no avail as I cannot notice an improvement.
I will take it back to the dealer's service department again this week. If that fails, I am thinking of contacting VW Australia, and maybe sending them a copy of the posts on this thread. I do not think that covering the IR sensor is long-term appropriate fix.
Has anyone had any success in getting a dealer to fix the issue?
Thanks
