Can only comment on the 001's, but ride was every bit as good as the Conti's fitted to my 2008, perhaps CS2's?? Can't recall..

To answer your original question - yes - but on my Forester. They replaced the 2 sets of RE001's that I got 60,000km out of. I have always raved about them and after 8,000km I think that these RE002's are even better - sharper turn in and grippier in the wet. And only $215 each for 215/55 17. I hope I can get them for my Golf too when it is ready.

A friend of mine has the 002's on his evo 8 ... he previously had Yokohama Advans and he thinks the 002's are right up there with the advans he is very happy with the bridgestones and after driving his evo a few times ill be looking for the 002's for my polo gti when the time comes.

          hope this helps

            Getting 2 new Potenzas RE002

I am getting 2 new RE002s fitted tomorrow for $270.00 each on my Jetta FSI Turbo. Size is 225 45 17s. This is from a non franchised independent dealer who swears by the RE001s and said that the 002s were even better. I bought my 2006 Jetta at the weekend with 60,000ks on the clock with 4 different tyres on it! I am dumping the rear tyres (a Hankook and a Silverstone) and moving the 2 Goodyears to the back.

Very pleased with my Re002s - really tough sidewalls, good handling, slightly firmer ride and they look the goods!

Bridgestone is having a spring sale. $255 per corner for 235/45R17. -$5 with RACV membership card. Until end of Oct. I think I am getting them mid-Oct.

Ops... JAX Quickfit is doing $229! Until end of Oct too.

I would have to say that in the wet the Conti's "felt" a bit better, but they definately were a softer compound and wore a lot quicker. In the dry, the difference is minimal, and I've pushed these things a bit and certainly not found a limit. Overall I think bang for buck they're excellent, no tramlining, quiet, wear well and have a good grip pattern, certainly not aquaplaned them. I do feel they are a harder compound, and thus wear better, and the wet grip is down a little as a result . That said they certainly feel quite safe in the wet, but I dont push things in a torquey FWD in the rain anyhow. Where the old Conti's used to wheelhop pretty bad because of the slightly better grip on a full bore clutch frying takeoff, the RE001's just seem to spin, but even as worn out as mine are now, you really have to try to make that happen, and my lil beasty has a bit of torque with minimal weight.
For the money they were hard to beat, and come replacement time, the new version that is supposed to ride as well, and last as long, yet raise the bar in grip and handling would have to be a major contender for me personally.
Thanks everyone and thanks for your extensive feedback Greg.
I also fitted the RE001's on my previous Audi but didn't have them very long as the car had to make way for the Passat. I did like them though. So might have to bite the bullet and get the RE002's fitted. That is if I don't upgrade the wheels to 19", which I'm considering. Unfortunately the RE002's don't come in an 235/19" so either have to stick to 18's or go the S001's in 19". Still have a bit of thread left so have a few weeks time to think about it.

I had the RE002 on my old car (WRX). Great tyre. Good solid sidewall, grippy in dry and wet and durable. Put 20K on them before selling and still had 60% left easily.
