  • 3rd year service

My Passat is up for a 3rd year service. I called Camberwell VW who are closet to me and they quoted $420.

I then called Essendon VW whom I bought my car from and they quoted $525. Both saying it is a pretty much standard service.

I have searched through the forum and the impression I have got is that Camberwell is usually the expensive one. Now, they have repented or they are now outdone by Essendon?

Anyone has any recent service experience in Melbourne? Someone also mentioned to avoid Camberwell but I could not find any reasons. Is that so?

Can't you take it to a VW specialist in the local area? $420-$525 is a lot for a basic service!

I booked my Wife's TDi Jetta in for its 3rd year service today with my local VW specialist and was quoted $210.

Quite a basic service, only need to change oil and filter, air filter and brake fluid.

According to my hand book, brake fluid is every 2 years and air filter every 4 years(depending on driving conditions and kms to)

Go to a specialist independent. Get as good a job - maybe better - and save big $$$.
