Hi,
I'm considering buying a 2004 (MY03) V6 Passat Station Wagon, with just under 70K on it.
I have a few service related questions:
1. Is the 70K service big? What would it normally cost?
2. My current mechanic (who I'm very happy with) is not a VW specialist, and has no special VW tools -- how much work are they likely to be able to do on a Passat? For instance, could they change a timing belt (assuming they are competent generally, but haven't done a Passat before)
3. Is http://www.germanautoparts.com any good for getting parts for use in Australia? Is it significantly cheaper? Are the parts any good?
4. If you think I should use a specialist VW mechanic, who is good in the inner west of Sydney?
Thank you for your thoughts.
Tom
