Allianz will not cover the seat. I was lucky that the dealership made a mistake and changed the seat without my consent.
They wanted me to pay but had no leg to stand on as I didnt authorise the repair.
    Got it for free!
VW should change thange them for no charge as it is a fault in the design of it.

Got the foam insert replaced last week. Car is 3 weeks out of factory warranty, although I've just extended. No questions asked and I waited whilst they did it at essendon vw. 2 hrs approx

Hi, I've just had my drivers bolster replaced under new warranty, however the service guy advised that if it goes again in the next 2 years then bring it back as VW will cover the replacement for 2 years as it's a known fault! Worth asking your dealer the question if they will replace it!

Hmm, any idea of what the cost is to have it replaced? My R36 is one year out of warranty, blergh.

Well the base of the seat is 295 from the dealer. I am going halves with the dealer, i buy the base, they pay for it to be fitted.

Ah real? Sounds like it'd cost around $550 or so in total then. Probably money better spent elsewhere.

Anyone in Adelaide had luck getting the bolster replaced? Mine is under extended warranty but I'm not sure if they will argue wear and tear given it has almost done 90,000kms.

I noticed that the interior sides (next to center console) on both my seats are still firm. Is it possible to simply swap the driver and passenger side seat foams to get another 50-75,000km before I need to buy new ones?

Anyone know how to do this (is it difficult)?
