  • What did you do about privacy glass tinting on R36?

The latest R36 has privacy glass on all windows except the drivers side, front passengers side and windscreen. As far as I can tell, dealer supplied tinting is not as dark as the original equipment privacy glass supplied by VW.

    The options:

    1) to get aftermarket tinting that they will supply but not warrant as far as legality.

    2) get dealr supplied tinting but be slightly different.

What have others here done to match or not match, please?

Same issue on my Golf R.

Took it to Dave @ Reflect Effect, he said he had a film that was close, but a slightly different hue.
Since it's been applied, i don't see any difference to the privacy glass.

Tint was a top notch job, and he took very good care of the interior while he was doing it.
(door trims needed to come off)

      Thank you for your reply.

So, was the tint he applied the legal light transmission?

        Mine is legal,
I think he used 45%VLT, as the glass already has 5-10% tint in it

I had the original VW dealer tinting for windows all round. It think it's still better than the aftermarket option although it is slightly more expensive. It looks really good.
