I checked with my insurance company GIO and they said that if i pay $100 a year extra they will insure me with 19" wheels. Just to be on the safe side i will specify my tyres are 235/35/19 91Y so that way they cant say i havent disclosed all information.
I should be fine now i think?
    also i found this:
    Road Vehicle Descriptor (RVD1)
Can anyone explain what government site it is?

    It specify's 19" wheels with 235/35 profile

      Hey Costa,

This is the offiial RVD Form that VWA use to certify the vehicle.
Every certification submission (Passat, Golf, A3, A4, etc) needs to have this as part of the certification submission.

so does this mean 19's with 235/35/ are certified which means 91Y is ok because thats the only load rating for 235/35/19 size

I"m on 18s, lowered with 235 and when fully loaded I do get a bit of rubbing.
I think 245 is too wide for this thing

A tyre can have two types of load index. One is standard load, and the other is either extra load (XL) or reinforced (Rf).

            Hence, a 235/35 R19 tyre is available as standard load - 235/35 R19 87Y, or extra load - 235/35 R19 91Y XL.

And yes, it appears that this is what Volkswagen has homologated, so from a regulation perspective, that's what should be fitted. Even the options list in the German sales brochure explicitly states "235/35 R19" as the tyre size for the optional 19" wheels.

However, I recommend that you inflate them to 2.9 bar (42 psi) cold, as I explain here in this thread (link).
