Passat Tyre Pressures - running on 18s

Have a 2007 3.2 passat wagon with sports pack so it has 235/40/18 Pirelli Pzero Rosso tyres.

What tyre pressures do you guys run in psi? Need to ask as this is my wife's car and the tyres are wearing down the centre.

I was running 40-42psi as this seemed to stop the tyre pressure warning going off (on partial load) but obviously this is too high or she needs to corner harder.

The recommended for a two person load is 38 and I think 40 for a four person load. Mine were set to 42 when I got my car - the ride quality improved immensely when I dropped them to 38.

I asked a similar question for our R36 in a previous post. Seems most on this forum recommend around 40 psi as a good compromise. The plaquard for our R36 (wagon) states 280kPa (40 PSI) for partial loading and 320 front 340 kPa (50 PSI!!) rear for full loading. I was running on 50 PSI for a while post delivery as the saleguy recommended keeping TPM on "fully loaded". Subsequently been happy on 40 PSI.

For what it's worth, when I recently picked up my 125 TDi Passat Wagon, the dealer recommended running all my 17" tyres @ 40 PSI. So although the ContiSportContact 3's sidewall indicates max pressure allowed is 350kPA (51 PSI), been happy so far running the 235/45 ZR 17's at 40 PSI as per previous R36 wagon posts.
