  • Wheel rotation

    Hi all,

I am thinking of doing a wheel rotation @ 15000km (probably should have done it earlier).

Will there be issues with the tyre pressure monitor after the rotation? Do I need to tell the shop any special instructions?

    Thanks
    Black/Grey MY10 R36 Sedan

If it's going to a dealership, they'll know what to do.

Usually after a tyre rotation, the TPM light will bing on the road test. A simple reset sorts it.

there isnt a physical sensor on the
wheel. its based off the abs sensors. so no issues or special instructions required.

My MY10 R36 has sensors in each wheel. I know, the tyrefitters handed me one in two pieces after my last tyre replacement.

After rather lengthy discussions between tyrefitter, myself and VW some agreement was reached on just who broke it. Once it was all fixed there was once last 'TPM light and bing' then it sorted itself out after a few minutes.

There's two different systems, depending on the model, and options

Sorry to re-live an old thread.
I'm about to do a alignment and rotation for all 4 wheels (R36) at Bridgestone Silverwater. Will there be a problem with the sensors after the tyre rotation? As stated above, will it reset itself?

If manually done, how do I do it? Any suggestions/comments?

Hold the button in until you hear a bing, and the light goes out.

After, of course, checking for yourself that the pressures are actually correct... been stung by that before, even out of the shop.

                          LOL... and graciously responded.

Seriously, what I was trying to stress was that it is important to not just accept whatever pressure is in the tyres, even if it has just come out of a dealer / tyre shop. Just pushing the button to reset and accept what is in them at that point in time is IMHO a mistake, and one that is easily rectified with a quick manual check of what the pressures actually are before resetting.

What 'correct' is may vary for you - for some it is what is written on the tyre placard on the car, for others it is what they have tried and are happy with.

For me in my R36 with Michy Pilot Sport 3s I run 40psi in all 4, and it is sweet. Hard, but sweet.

Thank you guys for the comments. Getting it done this morning. I put 40psi in all my tyres too, probably will get them to do that as well before rotating.
