Mirror Down function not returning to original position properly.

I love the mirror down function it's so handy and cool
But, I noticed that it doesn't seem to return the mirror to it's original state properly
I mean it does come back up but it's slightly different to how I adjusted before the dip...
Is this normal?

This is normal. Happens in my jetta and after about 3 times I have to adjust it back up to where I want it

You see? this is a problem I found with VW or european cars in general...
They bring us advanced technologies such as this but they are umm incomplete!
Another example is DSG it's an awesome technology but just try it at low speed and it's just... not finished WTF
And then there is DPF, on the manual it suggests that I change the driving style to suit the DPF operation har har...


Japs won't really release something like this unless it was perfected or they will not have it at all.
VW on the other hand, gives me an impression that they will just make me wear it if it fails.

Have you tried moving the mirror into the position where you want it and resetting the seat memory ? On my passat the mirrors always go back to the settings tied to the seat memory after dipping.

Seat setting is always set to one since I'm the sole driver....
But I'll give that try.

My R36 does this quite often. As far as I can recall only when I first back out of my driveway in the morning. I have to manually re-adjust it as I'm driving up the street. Bloody annoying!!!

Sounds a bit half assed in terms of finishing the technology, I'm used to Jap cars too which are not as luxurious but are usually engineered to a very high level. I haven't even used the feature, I just reverse the same way I always have, and turn the optical sensors off as they annoy me. Maybe I'm old school but I think learning a new vehicle includes developing a mental map of where it is in space and I much prefer that to using mirrors and sensors.

I haven't noticed any such issue in my R36. It returns to the correct position after dipping.

I find that on my cc auto dipping does not work properly unless the button that adjusts the mirror is selected to point to the LHS mirror.

Assuming the CC has the set up as the Eos, this is exactly how it is designed to operate. Will only function when L/H mirror is selected.

I have though about this issue a bit more. The problem doesn't happen every time. I'll have to be a bit more observant as my wife also drives the car and she uses memory position 2 whereas I use postion 1. It may have something to do with me changing it back to position 1 after she has driven the car. I will take note the next time she drives it before me.

I always leave the mirror switch in the L position otherwise the feature won't operate.
