I'm going overseas for 2 months so the Passat (125kw TDI) will be sitting idle, will this be a problem?
If necessary I can get someone to come round and give it a run every fortnight.
Cars sit on ships and wharves and dealeships for longer than that.
Yep, in the transport mode.
Top up tank, pump up tyres, there is a thread in diesel section on this topic, I'm sure it will be easy to find.
Search for "Going on holidays" (posted 22 March approx.)
Don't necessary have to top up the fuel tank to full though. What i did the last time i left the car for 1.5 months was that i left the fuel tank close to empty, came back and top it up. In my opinion, i prefer 'fresh' fuel to be injected into the car rather than 1.5 months of stale fuel , but that's just me.
In terms of battery, a newish car like yours won't die out that easily.
A month could be long enough for not to be able to start, especially for diesel.
Invest onto Ctek battery charger, it is cheaper than replacing battery when you come from holiday and if you use charger regularly it might extend the battery's life.
