It's on life support

Headed out to get lunch yesterday, pulled up at the end of the driveway and thought "the car's gone quiet." Had a look at the tacho, sitting on zero.... Tried restarting, nothing happened. A few more goes, nothing except the sound of a motor cranking and an unhappy starter motor, with a warning on the MFD saying "Engine Fault!! Workshop!!".

Called VW Assist, explained the problem to them, they replied along the lines of with problems and messages like that, they just tie the car... So onto a flatbed it went, off to South Yarra it went (as the closest dealer).

Not sure what's wrong, I suspect a fuel pump, and I'm likely to be without wheels for a week... But this might be the final straw when it comes to reliability....

good luck hope it can get fixed quickly - no loaner?? not ahd much luck mine has been fine although needed a top up with oil again recently between services. I'm glad I have extended warranty

Nope, no loan car... From either VW Assist or the dealer... To be honest the attitude from the dealer (first time dealing with them) was basically "bad luck, and you want us to help you?". They reckon they're booked out till Wednesday, so they won't even look at it until then, and it could take a couple of days to diagnose and repair. The bloke even laughed when I explained what happened. Am now wondering if I should have paid the moolah to get it back to Werribee, at least they know me there...

Jeez, that is a pretty piss poor effort.
I would be writing a letter or caling the dealer principal right away and demanding that something be done about this.

Can they get it in earlier @ their Richmond service centre?

Had some news at lunchtime to say they'd found the fault, and were replacing the parts...

Only to find just find out that the new parts didn't solve the problem and they were waiting on further advice from VW technical support...

So no more breath holding...

And now, it's fixed... Will collect t tonight after work.. New injectors, computer reset, apparently all good.
