  • R36 Gadgets!!!

Hi boys, new to this forum and new to the wonderful world of VW!!!

Had the car around a week and absolutely loving it so far but still have so much to learn!!! Thought i would ask you gurus what are your favourite gadgets and intricacies on the R36.

I have a MY10 R36 with sat nav/MDI options and the only upgrade I have done so far is purchase the S2T bigger paddles in black and awaiting delivery. (Thanks to steventoo from WP, I am sure he is on here!!! )

Also keen on changing the plates over to the new look euro slimline custom plate.. the standard ones look horrible!

      Sanchez,
It's gotta be the seats!! Needed the bum warmers over the last couple of weeks in Melbourne! Plus the 30Gb hardrive is great to have/use.

A couple of others have gone with the bigger paddles..i'm considering this option also.

IMO the slimline Euro plates defeat the purpose of filling out the numberplate space on the front bumper.

      Cheers,

      Jayse.

        Seats are out of control!

As for the plates i need to get rid of the generic vic roads plates they had on the car.. the custom euro plates make a huge difference on a car like this (slim or not hehe)!

The RSN510 unit is awsum, love the SD card option plus MDI and another input in the console... too many options!

G'day Sanches and congratulations. I've had my R36 for some weeks now and still am learning about all the gadgets. Like Jayse, there are so many different seat positions, I keep playing with it trying to find the best. Jayse, how do you access the hard drive? Can you download via CD with tunes in mp3 loaded on? What do I need to do to highlight the HD button on the touch screen?

I have been using a memory stick via the mdi usb connector - the sound is great.

I loaded mine with MP3's from both DVD and SD. CD's don't store much. Select the "copy to HDD" option to copy your business from external media to the hard drive. Great success!

                Hey Steve,

How're the new bigger paddles going? No dramas?
Considering this upgrade. Was it easy enough to do?

                Cheers,

Hey Steve, I'm missing something...."how do you access the 'copy to HDD' selection? Which menu is this selection highlighted & available from? - I cant find it"
                  Thanks, Nos

                    Hey Nos,

Check out this link to Maverick's website:
                    Volkswagen RNS 510 Loading of MP3′s | my-gti.com

When you load in a dvd or the sd card on the RHS of the screen there should be a "x" which you can touch and a mini menu will open up which should have "copy" on it. Press this and then choose where you want it to go.

                    Cheers,

                    Jayse.

                        Hi Jayse,

The paddles are awesome. Before I fitted them I used the paddles almost exclusively whilst driving (no D or S modes here!) and the larger, easier to find paddles are revelatory. Very highly recommended, particularly if one is a frequent paddle user like myself.

Installation was easy enough, though there are a few tricks.

                        1) Put the key in the ignition to disable the steering lock before disconnecting the battery. I scratched my head about this one for a while.

                        2) The fuses are on the opposite side to that stated in the manual.

                        3) No T40 driver required.

                        4) It's easy!

I thought I'd make a mess of it, but it was very easy and I reckon anyone could do it.

                        Good luck

                        Hi Nos,

Jayse answered more or less as I would have had I answered first

Steve, that's me in a nutshell!

Will get onto this, didn't get my arse into gear for the group buy. Will have to source it from somewhere else.

edit: just saw someone has started up another group buy on the old thread:

ignore the "completed" (that's for the initial group buy)

                          SWEET!

                          Cheers,

                          Jayse.
