R36 steering wheel mute button

Hi guys,
On my Jul09 built R36 wagon, the 'star' button on the steering wheel doesn't do anything. I think it should be a mute button - in the loaner Passat (non-R36) it was.

Anyone have an R36 with a functioning 'star' button?

Go to dealer and get your wheel re-coded.. Sometimes Happens. Has happened here and paddles did not work either.

It's a mute button on mine. Sometimes I have noticed it doesn't work... Didn't know the wheel could be recoded. So you guys downstairs know about it Phillip? Might mention it to them at the next service.

Mine carries out the same function as R34's.

Mine is a mute button (08), until I upgraded the DNS510 firmware it occasionally didn't work.

similar, 09 model and would not mute would not work if you touched it during the boot up sequence. Latest firmware helps

MY10 R36 with RCD510, start button works flawlessly as MUTE.

Mine works sporadically. It seems to work if I haven't already hit pause on the RNS510 touchscreen. If I've touched the screen, it doesn't seem to work. Go figure.

I have a dedicated voice command button. Must be something they changed from MY09. Two different buttons in mine, one for voice command and one for mute.
