RCD510 AM Tuner

Hi guys, I have a RCD510 in my 09R36.
Anyone have trouble tuning or getting good reception from AM Channels.
I am in Sydney and can only get 702 ABC crackly and weak signal.
Just wondering if anyone experienced same. (FM No problems).

There's an adaptor kit that swaps the antenna wires across. Normally this is used when a car is upgraded to an RNS510. It may work on the RCD510 but I don't know for sure.

Not sure why Id have to fit adapter as it was factory fitted..Im just trying to avoid going to VW, such an inconvenience.

My AM reception is absolute rubbish. I have had my R36 since Feb 2010. I have tinted windows, but the AM reception was rubbish before the windows were tinted and the back window is carbon and not metallic.

FM reception is absolutely superb. Perfect.

If anyone has a fix or any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated? It is driving me crazy.

Can you update to DAB+?

Very strange.
Today driving home, I hit an unavoidable bump in road. After which immediately the AM reception cleared and became perfect. (Must be somehting loose).
Hopefully it stays that way in the morning

simple solution....listen to FM or CDs...only kidding...good luck with a solution.

There isn't a whole lot you can do besides having your dealer check the antenna connections at both ends.

It's widely-known that European cars have compariably poor AM reception. AM is old technology now, and will be phased out in the not too distant future. Anyway, most AM stations are braodcasting on FM these days.

From memory, that was a Blue sedan, SharifE's was black.

SharifE, sorry to hear about your car mate..but very happy to hear you're ok!!

So what will you be getting when the insurance comes through?
