  • Red Marks on Speedo?

I have a Passat 103 TDI and I've been wondering if anyone knew why there is a red mark next to (from memory) 30K/h and 55K/h on the speedo.

not sure if the deliniation is different in petrol Passat's and I remember other cars that I've had, having simething similar but have never know why.

I Think.... that it is because in Europe all of the local streets are 50 KM/H and the centre of cities is 30 KM/H in some streets.... maybe wrong but that is what I remember from my two trips there.
