Trolley Jack

I wanted to rotate my tyres last night on the Passat Wagon. Went to put the trolley jack under the front of the car and I couldn't find anywhere where I was confident that the jack could reach to jack the car up on.

Is there a particular point people use under the car at the front? Or do you use the scissor jack and do each side independently utilising the spare wheel?

Do people jack up on the diff on the rear or the cross member? The exhaust is a pain in the arse and in the way to use the centre of the rear cross member.

I jack the R36 up one wheel at a time and put it on stands when I want to clean the wheels, calipers and wheel wells properly.

Not a Passat but the same for any car.

I use a trolley jack for the front and the scissor jack on the back at the same time on the same side.
I jack the front half up, then rear half up, front full up, rear full up.

Swap the wheels and drop it back down again, front half down, rear half down, front down full, rear down full.
