  • Passat 2.0TDI 125KW - Can this be Chipped / Tuned?

    Hi everyone

I am looking at getting my next VW, and deciding between a Passat 2.0 125KW TDI, or the Passat 3.2 V6 4MOTION.

Im really interesting in the possibility of getting a chip into the TDI to boost its performance to around the same level as the V6.

Does anyone know the cost of this, and the increase in performance i would get from the 125KW TDI? Would be interested to know the torque, KW power and 0-100 time. I have heard the fuel economy is improved as well. If it is to difficult or a much trouble i will just get the V6!

But i do currently have the Golf 2.0 TDI, which i really love, and i’d quite like an even better performing Passat TDI if this is possible.

    Thanks
    Simon

    Yes you can chip it.
Oettinger do a chip for the 125kw passat.

    125kw (350NM) -> 140kw (420Nm)

Not comparable to the 3.6L 4Mo in power or handling but it will get you to where you want to be well enough.

thanks team v, any idea of the costs of this etc?

i think it sounds great, a TDI with almost the performance of the V6, but without the thirst.

go the V6Highline - you get the AWD, better seats, better interior PLUS no mucking about and risk of insurance &/or warranty issues. Just my 2 cents worth.

What about DSG box isn't it rated up to 350nm .... do you think it can handle increase in power without any issues and with all the problems they had with it I wouldn't do it

I had the Oettinger chip in my old A3 125TDI with DSG. I recall it went from 125KW to about 143KW according to the blurb.

In this setup, torque is limited (to 380 torques) as I recall...

I felt economy dropped off a touch- certainly on longer runs. Performance felt much the same by the seat of the pants but the the engine felt smoother and revved out better.

I had an APR chip in an 8L S3 and the difference was massive. The result is much more subtle in the TDI chip

If you want V6 power buy a V6 you won't go wrong (obviously chip suppliers will disagree)

Custom Code does a DPF delete and tune that takes power from 125kw to 170-180kw and 450(ish)nm

                    that'll THRASH a V6, everytime

and its only about 2-2.5 all up!!! Thats what the Oettinger tune will cost you

How do you work that out? From their site a Phase 1 goes from 170bhp to 200-210bhp. That's 125kw to 150-157kw no? Phase 2 just says TBA if that's what you are refering to.

Bloody british units don't make it easy to compare. They won the language war, surely they could concede the units one.

I believe the DPF delete and after delete tune = 170kw

I would go the v6 over it personally as the awd and v6 powah are good enough.

                          what you said

I'm not sure they have the DPF delete for the Passat yet?

The seem to fit pretty much all vehicles with a DPF.

First batch of pipes has landed. I hope to have them in my hands next week.

cog-doc is likely to be the first tuned up.
