OK, so I know you can close the windows and sunroof with the remote, but does anyone know of a way to program them to close just by the car being locked? I.e. not having to hold the button on the remote?

I asked my dealer, and they said whilst it can be done, it is specifically noted not for australia.
Would assume perhaps the same deal with your request.
I have had a bit to do with some high end cars - 7 Series, S class etc (no I am not a limo driver!) and none have had that feature.Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers

My 2007 VE HSV did it for the sunroof and there's a module you can install in that for windows too. Given there's already a module in the VW R36 for auto close since it works by holding the remote, I'm hoping someone knows how to set it.
His 05 S500 didn't have it either.
I can't argue as to whether it has been removed, but only reiterate my previous post - which was intended to assist you not start WW3
As for HSV Bommodores - I have no experience.
As for R36's having the module, they dont really have Auto open/ close do they? The windows go up/down by HOLDING the remote (unless this has changed from the MY08 Model). They dont go all the way up or down without keeping the button depressed. It is as though the button on the remote only presses the down/up button half way, and not through the second path of resistance which instigates the auto up/down via the door switch.
TBH I drive 90% with windows up, sunroof open, it isnt a big deal to close the roof prior to leaving the vehicle, and if you forget having the extra functionality via the remote is a bonus.Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. WW3? What the? Nobody's starting any WW3 that I can see... But if you've had no experience with them, why call them "Bommodores"? Not that I care. Just curious. Would be like me saying a Mercedes S500 is a S***500 without ever having any experience with them. Makes no sense. The HSVs are great value for money performance, features and safety. No they're not built as well as a European car but they also don't cost $120,000+ for the same performance from a Euro.
Anyhoo - thanks for your comments. I know it's all a matter of convenience. And I too rarely have the windows open while driving too and like you love being able to close the roof if I forget. Would just be nicer if I didn't have to hold the button is all.

I don't think it is possible.
I have read on vortex that it will autclose after 12 hours but i haven't heard of it closing after just pressing the lock button.
Might help to look on vortex or pm logger on here about it

But can you move your thumb

In my low tech MY10 CC you have to press the lock button on the remote to lock the car.
And I have a super sensitive rain sensor as well - bald head. One of the few times I can express my superiority over the hairy human beings.
Is it all that much more effort to hold it to close and lock the windows?
Looks like you will just have to trade that low tech R36 in on a 2002 BMW or spend some time in the thumb gym..
Just joking Rocket but I couldn't resist. You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

yes rocket I see your point I meant if you forgot to close your windows by accident, left the car outside and it started raining, then I think it might be useful, but yes not much effort to use the button on the remote either way.B6 Passat Wagon No KESSY

A mate is the Service Manager at 1 of the dealerships. Met him for coffee one day & seen what looked like a brand new R36 in the workshop with ALL the interior out of it - I mean everything includung seats, carpet, door trims... the lot. What happened to it? You guessed it. A couple picked up their new R36, seems they had a blast over that weekend then left the sunroof open (not tilted, but fully open!). It rained & the car got a thourough soaking. Apparently the interior trim was a mess but worse was that a lot of the electronics weren't functional. Oh, & he said ther'e no way they'd be getting a warranty claim approved on that 1!
