Got my passat back today after its 90 000 service and must say im not a big fan of dealers.
being my first car i really had no experience in all this and was flying blind haha.

it all started when i dropped it off and when i asked about the courtesy bus, i was told that the driver finished at 4:30 and wouldnt be able to take me. i wouldn't have minded this if it wasnt 3:40 at the time and my house wasnt under a 20min drive away.

anyway i was having problems with the DSG similiar to '3putt's' post, and asked if they could look at it.

when i got the car back they said that the computer reported no faults, so there was no problem. i asked them if they'd gone for a drive and they hadn't as the computer would've told them if there was a fault.
i asked why it was so jerky and 'apparently' all of them are like that, and its something to do with the autohold on the gearbox, and its completely normal.
so if anyones worried, its completely normal for it to feel like youve just been kicked in the back by a horse

also had an issue with the trim rubbing on the back tailgate, apparently it hasnt been in a crash, but its an alignment issue and theres nothing they can do about it

well thats my experience, and $513 dollars later for an oil change i wasn't very impressed

Wasn't a dealer starting with K by any chance? I haven't trusted them ever since they did a repair on my father's friend's Pug 505 before the earthquake... and managed to put the front suspension wishbone on backwards...

hmmm... i think your spot on there

i think from now on i might drive that bit further to another dealer.
surely all dealers arent like this are they?

Name and shame! Dealers need to be held accountable for shoddy service like that.

Sounds like you need a new mechatronics unit and a panel re-aligned or replaced. BOTH of which are covered under warranty.

As for $513 for an oil change, I hope you didn't pay that!

if the mechatronics unit was broken, wouldnt it show up as a fault?

as for the panel it was the back tailgate hinge rubbing, do they replace them sort of HUGE parts?

oh no, no, it wasnt just for my oil change, they also cleaned my odour filter and air filter

well the dealer starts with 'k' and ends in 'loster'.....

Know what you mean about that dealer. I think VW is beyond their 'Ford' capabilities. Had to take my car back 5 times to get a single problem fixed because they ordered the wrong part on at least two occasions. Completely uninspiring explanations of problems which most likely could be simply fixed. Contact VW head office.

How much did you pay for your 60000 major service? I got charged $1500. I hope I am not being ripped off.

Do let us know how you go.

What are reputable service centres around the country? I'd gladly travel even a couple of hundred kms to take my car to someone I can trust.

If we all listed our good and bad experiences like this it would probably make the industry lift it's game in general.

That's for the diesel. The 2.0T is cheaper. Not sure what car you have.

I'm sure a better approach would be a calm and sensible discussion with the Service Manager. Let him know of your dissatisfaction and I'd be surprised if the issue can't be resolved. VWA will most likely refer you back to the dealer anyway.

                            Cheers

Yeah I have to agree with Convert or ask to speak with the Dealer Principle.

Did you get a warranty with the car???
Do a few searches and you will find if its the mechtronic unit at fault this
could cost you a few grand.

Who is the member on here who works for them, from memory he has a polo GTI
again do a few searches for him and maybe send him a PM as I don't think
the dealer would be happy with all this negativity and you might get somewhere.
