My comments about economy were just because the other car I was considering was the Audi S3 Sportback.
I also think the R36 fuel economy is good for a 3.6L V6. The S3s is brilliant though for much the same performance.
I forgot to mention before that the CO2 emissions are lower for the MY10 R36as well.

Ah OK... But the S3 is a whole lot lighter too.

The CO2 emissions are lower? Hmmm... Different exhaust? I wonder how they achieve that? Not that I care at all! lol

If I was to make a guess, it would be that Direct Injection is relatively emerging technology. Changes to injection timing and/or injector spray pattren could result in improved economy and emissions without a performance penalty.

I'm wondering if the dealer will adjust the price on delivery or if I'll have to still pay 2009 prices. I have a feeling ACC has been reduced to something like $1650 when I paid $2000.
I ordered my R36 Wagon in Nov09 and have slapped on close to $12k of options. I've been trying to get an answer from my dealer regarding any savings/pricing adjustments with the tariff reductions. Funnily enough, he's remaining VERY quite and uncontactable!

Just to play devil's advocate - how would you feel about paying more than what was specified in your contract if prices had gone up rather than down ?

Thanks for pointing that out. Then it must have been an honest mistake In any case I've been in touch with the dealer and I will be getting a reduction for this and the 2010 price decrease.

Yes that is interesting and the weight hasn't changed either. Perhaps the consumption tests were redone and it's now a more accurate figure now but something doesn't add up: the wagon should be worse than the sedan no? It's heavier and yet it gets better fuel economy in extra urban. Could it be aerodynamics or is it geared differently? Also new figures could be to do with the recent fuel requirement change.

The 125TDI also has new fuel consumption figures and it's slightly less economical to account for the extra weight I guess. Only by a whisker though.

You are absolutely right and this is why I asked nicely if a price reduction would automatically apply Which thankfully will in my case however the contract does state that the dealer can adjust the price to reflect any change in the price of the car or accessories which is why I added a clause that it can't be increased. Plus there's usually a clause that says the customer can cancel the order if the dealer increases the price so I'd say it would almost never happen that a dealer passes on price increases after signing a contract. I must admit I expected a price increase if anything given some of the additions being added to standard equipment and was surprised by a decrease.

At the end of the day I imagine dealers want happy customers and more sales over a better individual deal for them. If you are concerned then ask if a clause can be added to the contract that any price decreases will be reflected in the total price but increases won't

That's excellent advice about making sure whatever you want is written into the contract. Then both you and the dealer know exactly what will happen in those circumstances.
